GAME 7 THURSDAY - - This is Our Year!

04-07-10

Craig Smith

The Deseronto Storm were hosting their last game of the year win or loss and gave their hometown crowd quite a show.

The Storm opened the scoring less just 3:49 in when Andrew Bobas found the back of the net. Brad Clark and Cam Edwards got the helpers. South Muskoka would score before the break to tie it at one. Dan Soderberg-Andersson got the goal from Rick Greenslade and Rob Childs. 1-1 after one.

In the second the Storm lit it up. Kirby Maracle got the first of three second period goals for Deseronto. John Sweet got the assist and so did Andrew Bobas, right before he got a goal of his own. That goals was assisted by Brad Clark and John Sweet. Then John Sweet scored a goal of his own from Brad Clark. After forty the Storm led 4-1.

The third period started with Deseronto adding some insurance. Brad Clark was credited from Andrew Bobas and Todd Munden. 14-seconds later the Shield scored. Chad Meaghar got the goal from Ricky Greensladeand Dylan Sontag. Meaghar and Sontag would connect again just minutes later and it was suddenly a two goal game. However, Deseronto managed to hold on and force game seven.

Thursday will mark the first ever game seven in a Russell Cup Finals in GMHL History. The game takes place at 7:30 in Bracebridge.
