Storm vs. Bucks
1-24-10
Craig Smith
A rare Sunday matinee game saw the Brock Bucks come into town once again. Nothing really came in the first period ‘til there was only 35 seconds left. At that point the Bucks opened the scoring with a goal by Mark Zavorin. 1-nothing was the score after one.
In the second Deseronto went down two men, then they went down two goals. Stan Shcherbakov of the Bucks netted one with a second left on the 5-on-3 power-play. The Storm kept heading to the box though but their luck turned a little when Brad Clark found a loose puck and it found the back of the net with a shorthanded marker. Brock still had a 2-1 lead though after forty minutes.
As the Storm saw time running out on their comeback chances who else, but Brad Clark tied the game. He had help from Todd Munden on the power-play goal that made it 2-2. With under four minutes remaining Cody Nugent got called for hooking and went to the box with his head hanging. Luckily for him Travis Elvin bailed the Storm out several times before the buzzer went and we headed to OT for the second home game in a row.
In OT Tyler Dever got his name on the game sheet in the wrong column. Dever got two minutes for slashing 49 seconds in but after complaining was assessed and extra two. Down a man for the next four minutes didn’t look good. Cam Edwards got the puck up to Brad Clark and with all the open ice Clark found his way to the net scoring his second shorthanded goal of the game and completing the comeback for Deseronto.
