Storm vs. Oro-Medonte 77's

Craig Smith

01-15-10

DESERONTO-What a night it was, when the Oro-Medonte 77s came to town for the first and only time this season. The Storm and 77s faught until the final buzzer and when I say faught I mean their were fists flying everywhere, from on-ice to in the crowd. Ten minutes into the first frame there were a handful of fights in the same stoppage of play. With the extra men in the box for the 77s, Deseronto capitalized. They would score two power-play goals within a minute. Jeff Morris got the first while Cam Edwards got the next. Then after another fight between Kirby maracle and Antonio Morris the Storm would take the two goal lead into the first intermission.

Deseronto came out fast scoring another power-play goal just 37 seconds into the second. Then two minutes after that Jeff Morris scored again to put the Storm up 4-0. Oro would score their only goal of the night minutes later on a power-play. Sly Spencer was credited. That goal didn't stop the Storm though. Brad Edwards would score again before the period was up. Then throw in another fight, Danny Smith vs. Sylvester Spencer and we got ourselves a second period. 5-1 Storm after forty.

A very quiet opening to the third period, nice for a change some would say. Approaching the seven minute mark however Tyler Dever got frustrated with one of the officials and was eventually tossed. Five minutes were put on the board but that didn't stop Brad Clark. He skated up ice and netted a short-handed marker making it 6-1. Jeff Morris would eventually get his hat-trick goal at 13:17 and give the Storm the win 7-1.
