Storm vs. Powassan Dragons

Craig Smith

Sorry for the delay on this game report, but as you can see by the score, it was a Storm blowout.

DESERONTO- Deseronto capitalized on the power-play and shut the Powasson Dragons right down. In the first period the Dragons couldn't capitalize on pretty much the only chance they would get all night catching Storm goalie Jens Kansell out of the net but they were robbed when Kansell jumped post to post to stop the puck on his way to the shutout. A couple minutes later Deseronto's Todd Munden scored (on the power-play) and the team never looked back.

Although they never let up, the Storm didn't score again until the second period. Again on the powerplay, Brad Clark would score about five minutes in. Then on their next powerplay chance, Deseronto made it three-nothing. Cam Edwards scored the goal from Brad Clark and Jeff Morris. Then Bobby Sayers would get his seventh goal of the season unassisted to send Deseronto to the locker room with a 4-0 lead and a hill the Dragons wouldn't be able to climb.

In the third Deseronto would add to the beating. John Sweet and Ryan Brant both added goals to finish Powassan off six-zip. Jens Kansell would get credited with a shut-out after stopping only 15 shots. The Storm fired 57 on Dragon Patrick Cormack.

Storm vs. King Wild

Craig Smith

Penalties, penalties, penalties, that's the story behind tonight's GMHL game between the Deseronto Storm and King Wild. At least in the second period it was. Before we get there though, the first perod was the scoring period.

Jeff Morris, Andrew Bobas and Todd Munden got three goals for the Storm in the opening twenty-minutes. John Sweet and Ryan Brant got assists and so did Morris and Bobas. The scoring wasn't all Deseronto though, the Wild managed to sneak two past returning Deseronto goalie Jens Kansell. Brandon farrugia was credited with both goals.

The second period got a little too 'Wild' some would even say too 'in favour of' the Wild. Throughout the period 13 penalties were called against Deseronto and three against King City. The Storm were down a man for over half of the period. At one point head coach Andrew Clark threw a water bottle at the official because he wasn't being acknowledged and he was then ejected from the game. Luckily for the Storm, King City only capitalized twice on the powerplay, but that was enough to put them ahead after the second period, 4-3.

For the most part in the third Deseronto did a good job staying out of the box and that allowed them to score three and win the game. Morris scored the first from John Sweet and Brad Clark. Followed by Cam Edwards from Clark and Sweet from Clark and Morris. The final score of the game was 6-4, Deseronto.
